use email to engage your connections

Technology is progressing quickly providing us with multiple alternatives to traditional marketing.  And like many companies and brands out there, yours has probably shifted its efforts to online marketing.

Social media and email marketing act separately as great marketing tools.  While social media offers a continuous interaction with your followers, email marketing is a tool to provide a steady flow of information received directly by your connections. So why not use both simultaneously as one fully integrated online marketing campaign.

Here are some tips on how to use your email correspondences and ezines to get your connections to interact with you on social media as well:

Guide current e-mail subscribers to engage with you online through social media sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) The best way to do this is to refer to content posted on social media sites in your newsletter.   Also, I would suggest that you add logos and links to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc… in your ezine and email signature in order to notify the recipient that you are already online engaging in discussions with followers and fans. This is a good way to increase exposure, spread the word and build support for your company’s presence online.

your brand - what does it say?
build your image... build your brand

We all know how important it is to be consistent in your messaging, regardless if it is for business or personal branding purposes.

With all the tools available out there, one can only wonder how effective your message and brand can be?  Being present and building an existence, online and offline, is very crucial.  Regardless of the tools and venues you decide to tackle, it is very critical to be consistent in your image and messages.

A simple example would be establishing and building an online profile on LinkedIn, Twitter and/or Facebook.  Make sure that your profile is complete reflecting your expertise and goals with a consistent, simple, and clear message.

Use the same photo, preferrably a recent one, so viewers can establish a connection between the name, expertise and image.

As for your messages, remember that YOU are in control.  So think twice before you publish any information online.  Once you do, it is out of your control.  It becomes public knowledge and it will be online forever.  Be professional, honest and positive.  Everyone enjoys the company of a cheerful person.  Don’t you?
